Tour itinerary (in brief)

Leaving the charming heritage town of Westport we head for the port town of Newport on the shores of Clew Bay. One of the first features evident on approaching Newport is the elegant and historic seven arch viaduct, tastefully restored in recent years, which carried the Westport-Achill railway line in a former life.
Our route will take us through Ballycroy, Ireland’s sixth National Park. It comprises of 11,000 hectares of Atlantic blanket bog and mountainous terrain, covering a vast uninhabited and unspoilt wilderness dominated by the Nephin Beg mountain range.
Onwards to the Ceide Fields which are the oldest known field systems in the world, being over five and a half millennia old. It is a unique Neolithic landscape of world importance, which has changed our perception of our Stone Age ancestors.
Ceide Fields
Continuing on our journey via Ballina, Mayo's second largest town after Castlebar towards The seaside town of Enniscrone has miles of sandy white blue flag beach and is also home to the world famous Enniscone championship links course.
On route to our final destination of the bustling town of Sligo we make a stop at Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery which was built around 4600-3900 BC . Thiis the largest in Ireland and amongst the oldest in Europe with fascinating chamber tombs, ring forts, cairns and passage graves.
